5 Ways to Transform Your Home with Great Design in 2017

5 Ways to Transform Your Home with Great Design in 2017

Updating your home’s interiors doesn’t always require a major remodel. A few changes here and there can go a long way; after all, it’s the small details that really make an impact when it comes to interior design. If you’re ready to update your home’s interior for 2015, here are five design tips from Shari Felton to transform your home with great design in mind:

1. Make a Statement with Geometric Patterns

Geometric designs are big this year especially in bathroom and kitchen trends. If you’re looking for a major change in your bathroom or kitchen, consider retiling your floors with bold geometric patterned tiles. These tiles are also great for kitchen backsplashes, to add a focal point of visual interest in your kitchen.

You can also use similar geometric patterns for wallpaper in other areas of your home like the bedroom or the living room. If you’re not looking for a major change, you can incorporate the geometric trend in fabrics for pillowcases, throw rugs, and sheets. A chair or coffee table in a modern geometric shape also makes for a statement piece in the living room.

2. Incorporate New Color Trends for the Year

Move over black and white, as gray is the new go-to neutral color for interior design. Gray is a very versatile color to work with; you can use it with pastels, different shades of brown, and yes, black and white for a monochromatic color scheme.

Blue (especially deep sea blue) is also a great color to incorporate into anything from accent pieces to entire walls, as it can create a dramatic but calming effect in any room especially when used for walls.

And finally, expect to see a lot of Marsala hues (Pantone color of the year) in everything from fabrics, accent pieces, and wall colors. Marsala goes great with C

3. Statement Lighting

The use of statement lighting fixtures to draw visual interest to the ceiling is not exactly a new trend but it’s a great way to transform a space from drab to fabulous. Statement lighting fixtures that feature geometric patterns serve as a decorative piece whether the lights are on or off.

4. Table Trends: Mixing the Old with the New

Pair up an old rustic dining table with modern seating to instantly update your dining room’s look. It’s becoming a popular trend to mix contemporary pieces with old rustic furniture to get the best of both worlds.

5. Sectional Sofas are Back

At the end of the day, you spend a lot of time in that area of your home, and it’s supposed to be a relaxing experience. Making small alterations could help you to unwind much more easily after a long day at the office. Don’t worry if your budget is stretched at the moment because you don’t have to spend thousands to create something amazing. You simply have to look for inspiration. If you’re renting, it might be worth speaking your landlord and asking if they would be willing to cover some of the expenses. Fitting stylish bathroom tiles

Presuming the bathroom in your new apartment has looked the same since the 1980s, it might be sensible for you to replace the tiles. For the best savings, you’ll want to look online at auction websites. Many bathroom companies go under each year, and most of them have to sell their stock quickly. So, they use those websites all the time. It might be a good idea to visit your local bathroom store first though. That way, you can get a good idea about the type of tiles that appeal to you most.

Purchasing a new suite

You should only purchase a new suite for your bathroom if you have a big enough budget. Otherwise, it could be better to simply clean your old one and give it a new lease of life. Again, you’ll find the best prices online, but it’s still sensible to visit stores in your area before committing to a purchase. These days, you can get all manner of weird and wonderful suits from top manufacturers. So, don’t make the mistake of opting for a standard shaped bath straight away. Depending on the size and shape of your room, something a little more modern might be suitable. Once you’ve paid for your suite, you simply have to find a qualified Frisco plumber to deal with the pipework. Do not attempt to perform plumbing jobs without assistance unless you have previous experience. It’s just not worth the risk.

Looking for alternative lighting

The way in which you bathroom is lit can make a huge difference to the aesthetics of the room. You don’t want to sit in the tub with a bright 100W bulb over your head, and so it’s a good idea to think outside of the box. While some people opt to install dimmer switches and spotlights when designing a glamorous bathroom, we think you can do a little better than that. You won’t have to look far to find high-quality mirrors that contain bulbs. Illuminating your room from the mirror can make it appear far more upmarket.

However you decide to redesign the bathroom in your new apartment, we hope this article has given you some cool ideas. Getting started as soon as possible is always going to be the best option, especially as we’re still within the month of January. Those sales aren’t going to last forever though.

A luxury spa hotel with an impressive style

A luxury spa hotel with an impressive style designed by the famous architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser in the Styria thermal region of Austria named the Rogner Bad Blumau.
This hotel was originally opened in 1997 with a layout similar to that of a city since it has its own districts, a piazza-like center where the spa is located and a large array of amenities blended into the landscape.

The beautiful project is a work of art in itself which also has the functionality of a thermal park and it offers accommodation, swimming facilities and restaurant areas set into a colorful set of buildings with patchwork facades and green roofs for a playful and highly original aesthetic.
The Ziegelhaus is created with bricks from old farmhouses from Bad Blumau and the columns of the buildings try to emulate the trees nearby growing from the earth with no straight lines, since the architect was convinced that a straight line is unhealthy.

Contemporary restaurant in the center of Paris, France

This is a contemporary restaurant in the center of Paris, France at the foot of Montmartre named Jeanne B. A Guide To Creating The Perfect Outdoor Lounge

With summer on the way, it’s time to start thinking about how you can get the most out of your garden and soak up as much sun as possible.

Have you ever considered creating an outdoor lounge space for yourself and your family and friends to use? If you have a large enough garden with some spare space, creating an outdoor lounge area is the perfect way to soak up the sun and enjoy the summer weather.

To help you create a perfect outdoor lounge area, we have put together a simple guide below. To find out more, have a read of this.

How much space do you have?

Take a realistic look at how much spare space you have and consider what you can do with it. While installing an outdoor kitchen, as well as a lounge area, may seem like a good idea, with limited space you may end up making your garden look too overcrowded. Be realistic and think about what you want and need.

Do you imagine yourself and your friends drinking wine under the stars? Do you see your family messing around in the garden during the summer while you relax in your outdoor lounge area? What exactly do you want to use your outdoor space for - relaxing, entertaining or what?

What is your budget

Before you go out and buy lots of bits and bobs for your new project, set yourself a budget so that you don’t overspend.

Once you have set a budget, break it down into sections and allocate each section of your budget a certain amount of money to spend.

Furniture

Any living area, whether indoor or outdoor, needs plenty of furniture. An outdoor table and chairs or an outdoor bar area and stools will give you the space you need to spend time with your friends and family.

Outdoor sofas, armchairs and hammocks are perfect for creating a relaxed and chilled out space. Make sure that any sofas or armchairs you place outside are made of a weatherproof material.

If you are planning on using your outdoor lounge to enjoy a morning coffee, you may want to consider investing in a waterproof, outdoor coffee table.

Accessories

Don’t forget to accessorise your outdoor lounge as you would any other place in your home. You can add a unique style to the space with bright, bold, mix and match pieces, such as patterned pillows, etc.

Accessories are the best way to add style to a space, and so, they are essential. To create a relaxed outdoor space, incorporate candles, outdoor lamps, outdoor rugs, and lighting. Ideally, you want to use accessories to create a relaxed atmosphere.

Lighting

Adding the right type of lighting to your outdoor lounge space is vital if you want to create a relaxed and calm ambience. For a relaxed look, avoid harsh overhead lighting and instead opt for lanterns and candles.

Place lights strategically so that you can create focal points in the space. Sculptures, water features and beautiful plants all make excellent focal points.

Inspiring from the office design of advertising company

Leo Burnett is well-known as an advertising company which had significant office design. Their new office in Moscow, Russia was designed by the practice of Nefa Architects in 2014 to represent the signature style of the brand.
The designer Maria Yasko explained the thinking process and said that “the idea to use glasses as the central expressive feature of this space was not born at once” and they considered the stars and apples since they represent the company.
The legacy of the company was brought into the design through the period features evoking the Chicago of 1935 and the office spaces were thought of as modern art galleries with glasses integrated into the space as artistic features as well as organizing the overall layout in an original manner.
The resulting project is meant to be adaptable and to change in time, so that it may get additional slogans or color spots in the future while still maintaining the core ideas.
